It’ll be a Fair weekend
The 2012 Morgan County Fair is a one stop place for a showcase of local entertainment.
The fair kicks off on Thursday, August 2 with the Fourth Annual Young Artist in the Park Art Show & Entertainment with free swimming from 6-8 p.m.
Bands include The Stereo Spacecraft offering deluxe classic rock and The BlackCat School of Rock featuring classic and modern rock from high school aged local rockers.
The bands will perform from the Berkeley Springs State Park gazebo while local youth exhibit their art work and crafts.
This event is sponsored by Berkeley Springs Lions, Morgan County Partnership, Morgan County 4-H and Morgan County Fair. For more information on how to be a youth vendor, contact the Morgan County Partnership at 304-258-7807.
The main fair takes place on Saturday, August 4 and Sunday, August 5 at Berkeley Springs High School.
Saturday features
On Saturday the main stage will feature music by Marv Ashby and High Octane’s foot stomping Bluegrass and Break Even with good time classic rock.
Widmyer Elementary will be the location for the Morgan County Farm Bureau’s Farm Olympics.
Other activities include the Farm Bureau Kids Pedal Pull and Farm Olympics on Saturday, August 4 at noon.
Starting at 7 p.m. the fun continues with rock and roll and country of the 1950s through the 1980s by the Flashbacks. The evening will end with the Morgan County Fair Fireworks.
Sunday features
Sunday will see the first annual Morgan County Fair Community Talent Show. Performers compete for a winning prize of a recording session from BlackCat Shop and Studio. To register or for more information, contact Jonathan McBee at BlackCat Music Shop 304-268-6709.
Back for another year is The Stevens Family with traditional bluegrass and gospel. The group has become a tradition with the fair.
The Annual Samantha Redston People’s Dog Show will take place at 4:30 p.m.
The highlight of the weekend will be the annual fireworks show.
Throughout the day the Cumberland Transit will offer trolley service for fairgoers from the parking area at Widmyer Elementary to the fair grounds.
