School personnel changes

The Morgan County School Board approved the following personnel actions at recent meetings:

George Ward was approved as halftime long-term substitute county attendance director, starting July 2, until the vacancy is filled.

Ashley Davis was assigned as second grade teacher at Widmyer Elementary.

Robin Thompson was assigned as third grade teacher for Warm Springs Intermediate School.

Warm Springs Intermediate School fourth grade teacher Amanda Shatzer resigned, effective at the end of May 29.

Warm Springs Intermediate School fifth grade teacher Lindsey Otto resigned, effective at the end of May 29.

J.T. Spivy, Warm Springs Middle School language arts teacher, resigned effective at the end of May 29.

Linda Soos was hired as a speech pathologist, beginning with the 2012-2013 school year.

Emylee Yudasz and Amber Thompson were employed as county speech pathologists, starting with the 2012-2013 school year.

Sammi Johnson was approved as a substitute school nurse beginning May 15.

Transfers
Warm Springs Middle School remedial specialist Adriene Derby transferred to a position as Widmyer Elementary second grade teacher.

Warm Springs Intermediate School fourth grade teacher Ashley McClure transferred to a position as Widmyer Elementary second grade teacher.

Warm Springs Intermediate School teacher/remedial specialist Lorie Faith transferred to a position as intermediate school third grade teacher.

Substitute teachers
Hazel Morton and Paula Masters were employed as halftime long-term substitute Spanish teachers for Warm Springs Middle School, until the vacancy is filled.

Kelly Cooney was hired as a long-term substitute teacher for general science/chemistry at Berkeley Springs High School, until the vacancy is filled.

Kimberly Mason was assigned as long-term substitute teacher for students with severe/profound learning disabilities at Berkeley Springs High School, until the vacancy is filled.

Jann Hewett was approved as halftime long-term substitute county teacher for hearing impaired and visually impaired students, until the vacancy is filled.

Sara Twigg was chosen as long-term substitute science teacher during a leave of absence at Warm Springs Middle School.

Sheldon Akers was hired as a substitute teacher effective May 15. He was later re-employed as a substitute teacher for next school year.

Substitute teacher Janet Hrobak resigned at the end of April 30.

John Rowland resigned as substitute teacher, effective at the end of May 23.

Service personnel
Berkeley Springs High School custodian Garland Miller’s retirement date was amended to the end of August 7. Miller was employed as a substitute custodian beginning August 8.

Extra duty
Amy Glascock was employed as a homebound instructor for the 2011-2012 school year, as needed.

Lesley Friedman was hired as an athletic trainer for Berkeley Springs High School, beginning July 2.

Summer programs
Lorie Faith and Gena Guimarro were employed as teachers for the third grade summer enrichment program at Warm Springs Middle School beginning June 15 through July 19, as needed.

Raegan Murphy was selected as math teacher, Sean Beresford as writing teacher and Tamara Bittorf as reading teacher for the eighth grade summer enrichment program at Warm Springs Middle School, beginning June 15 through July 19, as needed.

Shanna Poniris was hired as teacher for the third grade summer enrichment program at Paw Paw Schools beginning June 15 through July 19, as needed.

Lorra Root and Josh Wilson were employed as halftime teachers for the eighth grade summer enrichment program at Paw Paw High School, beginning June 15 through July 19, as needed.

Rachel Fisher was named county teacher for English as a Second Language, starting June 18 through the end of August 4, for nine hours per week, as needed.

Pamela Gloyd was approved as a substitute teacher for the third grade summer enrichment program, beginning June 15 through July 19.

Michael Wilder was named credit recovery program teacher for Berkeley Springs High School, beginning June 15 through July 19, as needed.

Dawn Harrold was chosen as credit recovery program teacher for Paw Paw High School, beginning June 15 through July 19, as needed.

Coaches
John Rowland resigned as head coach for boys’ and girls’ cross country for Berkeley Springs High School, effective at the end of May 23. Rowland also resigned as high school assistant track coach, effective on the same date.

Steve Moreland was named Paw Paw High School head boys’ basketball coach.

Holly Palmer was approved as Paw Paw High School head volleyball coach. She was also hired as high school assistant girls’ basketball coach.

Ronald Bittinger resigned as Berkeley Springs High School head baseball coach, effective at the end of June 30.

Lana Loya resigned as assistant coach for middle school girls’ basketball at Paw Paw High School, effective at the end of May 29.

Shanna Poniris was employed as Paw Paw High School head cheer coach.

Unless otherwise noted, the personnel changes are effective for the 2012-2013 school year.
