Relay For Life exceeds goal

Relay For Life of Morgan County, which was held June 8-9, has exceeded its goal of $36,000. The final total has not been determined yet, as teams are still fundraising. Teams are reminded that they may fundraise for this year through August.

Paint The Town Purple winners were: Berkeley Springs — Most purple, Berkeley Floral; Most cancer-related, Hunter’s Hardware; Most related to theme, Roy’s Service Center.

In Hancock: Most purple, Potomac River Grill; Most related to Cancer, Petals & Bows.

Winners were announced at the Relay and will be invited to participate in the Apple Butter Festival Parade with Relay For Life.

Frank Trujillo, owner of Mountainside Restaurant, made a commitment last year to walk the entire Relay, which is 12 hours. His commitment was cut short last year due to severe weather, causing the Relay to shut down early. This year he made the same commitment, and was able to walk 97 laps, which is 24 1/2 miles.

The Wrap-Up meeting will be in July.
