Great Cacapon man arrested during attempted break-in

Morgan County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a breaking and entering suspect who was running from a building on Central Avenue in Great Cacapon on Monday morning, June 11.

Around 11 a.m., Deputy First Class Dennis Jenkins observed the property owner pulling a vehicle behind a building used for storage. He observed a male subject run from the building.

Later identified as Brandon Roach, 23, of Great Cacapon, the suspect continued to run despite verbal commands to stop.
An extensive foot pursuit ensued through yards and wooded areas. At one point, Roach allegedly entered and attempted to hide in a basement. Then he ran across Rt. 9, jumped a guardrail and tumbled down an embankment where Deputy First Class Scott Lemon was able to take him into custody.

Roach was charged with felony breaking and entering. Police believe was attempting to steal copper wire from the storage building.
