State tournament tennis results
Kelsey Weimer and Logan Webster, representing Berkeley Springs High School, we're both eliminated in the opening round of the WV Class AA/A State High School Tennis Tournament held in Charleston last week.
Weimer was defeated in a No. 1 girls singles match, 8-0, by Ariel Shulman from Parkersburg Catholic, while Webster lost to Oak Glen's Zach Brown, 8-3, in a No. 2 boys opening round match.
Despite the early exit, Berkeley Springs Coach Neil Heard was pleased with his two qualifiers.
"I'm very proud of their achievements this season," said Coach Heard. “I think Logan has seen what the competition is like and that it will push him this offseason to make it back."
Charleston Catholic continued its domination of the state tournament. The Shamrocks won their seventh consecutive boys team title, while the girls team made it five in a row.
