Girls tennis team downs Musselman

Berkeley Springs High School Girls Tennis Team improved to 4-6 on the year with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Musselman on Thursday, April 5, in Bunker Hill.

The Lady Indians won two points in singles matches and two more in doubles to pull out the narrow win.
Rebekah Henry (#2 singles) won an exciting 9-7 match, Erin Close (#3 singles) breezed to an 8-2 victory, Kelsey Weimer and Close pulled out an 8-5 win in number one doubles, while Chelsea Breeden and Monica McBee came through with a 9-7 win at number three doubles to seal the win.

"The girls had some great wins against Musselman and really fought hard," said Berkeley Springs Coach Neil Heard. “The number three doubles team won seven straight games to claim victory."
The boys did not fare as well, losing to Musselman 6-1.

The lone win came at number three doubles where Thad Osborne and Manuel Quiroga combined forces for an 8-6 win.

"I think the boys played really well," Heard said. “Most boys were playing two places up and really showed where the team will be headed in the future."

A day earlier, both teams lost by the identical score of 7-0 to Martinsburg.
