Students participate in Regional Social Studies Fair
Morgan County Schools was represented by several students at the Regional Social Studies Fair at Musselman High School in Inwood, on Saturday, March 17.
Students from elementary through high school competed against students from seven other counties in RESA in categories such as Anthropology, Economics, Geography, Sociology, State and Local Studies, US History, World History, Political Science and Psychology.
The competition was intense and most of the students brought home a medal with one group advancing to the state competition.
Kristen Faith and Michael Moss of Berkeley Springs High School earned first place with their project titled, “The History of Sir John’s Run” and will be competing in Charleston, on April 20. They will compete against other high school students in their category, “State and Local Studies.”
Second place winners at the regional event were: Meghan Fox (WSIS), Cole Morris (PVE), Aleah Hageny (WSIS), Courtney Stotler (WSIS), McKenzie Davis (WSIS), Joshua Morrell (PVE), Stephanie Golden (WSMS), Leah Hancock (WSMS) and Rebecca Leach (PPHS).
Third place winners at the regional event were: Matthew Slovinsky (WSIS), Haley Abrell (PPES), Colton Souders (PVE), Eliza Caperton (WSMS) and Garrett Morris (WSMS).
Honorable Mention recipients at the regional event were: Zach Davis (WSMS) and Katey Banks (WSMS).
