Miss Morgan County Scholarship Program deadline March 2

The deadline to register for the Miss Morgan County Scholarship Program is Friday, March 2.

Any Morgan County female student in grades kindergarten through 12th grade (or homeschooled) are eligible to compete in the 2012 Miss Morgan County Scholarship Program to be held on March 31, in the Connie Perry Auditorium at Berkeley Springs High School.

The program is divided into four age categories, Tiny Miss (grades K-two); Little Miss (grades three-five); Junior Miss (grades six-eight) and Miss (grades nine-12).

An orientation will be held at 6 p.m., on March 2 in the Long Distance Learning Room at Berkeley Springs High School.

Judging categories include on-stage introduction, costume or casual wear, and formal attire. In addition, the Miss Contestants will also be judged on talent/speech and interview.

The program is designed to build self-confidence, poise, public speaking ability and to show off their natural beauty. The program will open with a production number performed by all the contestants. All contestants will be recognized for their strengths and prizes will include cash scholarships, trophies, sashes, and crowns. Winners will be required to appear in the Apple Butter Festival and Parade and the Morgan County Fair as well as the Paw Paw and Great Cacapon parades.

The winners will be encouraged to participate in other community activities as requested.

The return of the Miss Morgan County Program is the only 4-H project of Executive Director, Chelsea Hessler. The Miss Morgan County Scholarship Program is designed to give back to a local non-profit organization.
Proceeds will be used to start an on-going college scholarship for a graduating senior in Morgan County beginning with the graduating class of 2012.

The Ann Moss Smith Community Service Scholarship honors the life of Ann Smith who spent her lifetime educating the youth and volunteering in numerous organizations in Morgan County.
