Alcohol sales sting

Members of the Morgan County Sheriffs’ Office worked with the Morgan County Partnership to conduct an undercover conformity check of local stores selling alcohol on Halloween night, October 31.

Young adults under 21 years of age visited seven local businesses and attempted to purchase beer.  Only one of seven stores did not pass the test. A clerk from Doris’ Deli in Great Cacapon was cited for selling beer to a minor.

During a similar operation in March, five out of seven establishments failed and clerks or bartenders were cited.

Sheriff Vince Shambaugh said he was happy to see that these efforts appeared to be paying off.
