Berkeley Springs to host Police Chief’s Association
The Berkeley Springs Police Department has been selected to host next fall’s West Virginia Chiefs of Police Association Conference.
This year’s fall meeting was held September 23-25 in Ranson. At the conference, Berkeley Springs was selected as the location for 2012, Bath Police Chief Craig Pearrell said.
Asked how Berkeley Springs was selected to host the event, Pearrell said, “They looked for someplace where the conference hadn’t been held before.”
There are 232 municipalities in West Virginia and the conference draws between 40 – 60 police chiefs and their families each year, Pearrell said.
The conference begins with a banquet on a Friday evening and runs through Sunday lunch. Tentative dates are September 21-23.
Pearrell said he wants to begin planning for the event now and urged area lodging, food, arts and crafts and other businesses who wish to participate in hosting conference attendees to contact him.
“This is an opportunity for our community and our town to shine,” Pearrell said.
