Indians beat Hedgesville 3-2

Jared Levi scored a pair of goals and Derrick Cowles added the third, giving Berkeley Springs High School Boys Soccer Team a 3-2 win over Hedgesville on September 20 in Hedgesville.

Levi scored the first two Indian goals, with assists from Cowles and Zach Wise. Cowles then scored, what would ultimately become the game-winning goal, on a penalty kick to give the Tribe a 3-0 lead.

The Eagles battled back, scoring two unanswered goals, but Berkeley Springs defense held up to secure the 3-2 victory.
Caleb Murray had eight saves for the Indians.

Two days later the Indians came out on the short end of a hard-fought 3-2 decision to Jefferson in Shenandoah Junction.

Berkeley Springs took the early lead when Zane Mokhiber scored on an assist by Wise. Jefferson tied the game shortly after on the first of three goals by Tyler Lambert. Lambert scored his second goal before the half ended and the teams headed to the Intermission with Jefferson holding a 2-1 lead.

Wise tied the game at 2-2 when he scored on a penalty kick with about 15 minutes remaining to play. However, Jefferson regained the lead when Lambert completed his hat trick with a penalty kick of his own four minutes later and then held off the Tribe for the narrow victory.

Berkeley Springs, 6-2-1, is at Clear Spring today, September 28 and at Washington tomorrow, before hosting Musselman on October 4.
