No surprises in Bath election
Mayor Susan Webster was elected to an eighth term as mayor in the Town of Bath election on Tuesday, June 14.
Councilmen Kenny Easton and Scott Merki were reelected to council seats. Write-in candidate Andrew Swaim was also elected to council.
Webster and Easton each received 43 votes while Merki got 41 and Swaim 36. A total of 51 town residents cast ballots.
It was Easton’s third election to the council and Merki’s second. All candidates ran unopposed.
Although the positions of mayor, recorder and five council seats were up for election, only the four candidates filed to run.
The newly elected officials are a quorum and will be able to conduct town business.
The mayor and council may choose to appoint others to fill the three empty council seats or may operate with just four elected officials.
Webster was first elected to the town council in 1993, elected as town recorder in 1995, appointed as mayor in 1996 and won election as mayor in 1997.
