Empty slots remain on Bath town ballot
Residents of Town of Bath may still file as write-in candidates for the town election until Tuesday, May 3.
Up for election on Tuesday, June 14, are the offices of mayor, recorder and five council seats.
Mayor Susan Webster, Councilman Kenny Easton and Councilman Scott Merki were the only incumbents to file for reelection. That leaves three council seats and the office of town recorder open on the ballot.
If enough candidates are elected to form a quorum, they may appoint new council members to fill any vacant seats.
But if no other candidates file for election, the council won’t have the minimum number of four elected officials to form a quorum.
In that event, the existing council members must continue to serve until new council members are appointed, Mayor Webster said.
Those wishing to file as write-in candidates must submit a signed certificate of announcement to run and a campaign finance form to Town Clerk Margie Allgyer at the Municipal Center.
Forms are available at the town office.
The last day for Bath residents to register to vote in the town’s election is Tuesday, May 24.
