County Fire Board applications needed

A citizen member for the Morgan County Fire Board is currently needed to represent Magisterial District 3. Fire Board member Bill O'Grady's term for that district expired in April.

Previous announcements about the current Fire Board position opening had the wrong magisterial district publicized due to a commission office error.

Applications for the current openings on the Morgan County Fire Board and the Morgan County Economic Development Authority will be accepted until November 16.

Another citizen member will be needed next year for the Fire Board to represent Magisterial District 2 when member Isaac Bohrer's term ends on April 30, 2008.

Fire Board make-up

The Morgan County Fire Board consists of three firefighters, each representing one of the four fire departments, three citizen members—one from each magisterial district—and one county commissioner.

A firefighter representing the fourth fire department attends the Fire Board meetings, but does not vote. This non-voting member rotates between the four fire departments.

The fire board meets quarterly at 7 p.m. on the last Tuesday of the month following the end of each quarter. Volunteers serve a three-year term. Board members must be able to attend the meetings.

Applications for the volunteer positions may be picked up at the Morgan County Commis-sion office. Call 258-8540 for more information.
