Local man injured in head-on collision

Ricky Waugh, 48, of Highland Ridge Road, Berkeley Springs was injured October 10 in a head-on collision on Spohrs Road. The accident occurred at 12:56 p.m. two-tenths of a mile south of the intersection with New Hope Road.

According to police, a 17 year old male juvenile from eastern Morgan County, with a Hedgesville address, was driving a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire when he ran into a ditch. While attempting to get back onto his side of the road, he collided with Waugh, driving in a 95 Toyota Corolla.

West Virginia State Trooper V. E. Branham investigated the accident. According to Branham's police report, Waugh had no visible injures but complained he was suffering some pain.

Waugh was transported by Morgan County Rescue to War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs where he was treated and released.

Police did not release the name of the juvenile, who was charged with failing to maintain control of his vehicle. Both cars had to be towed from the scene.
