A night of readings
The Bolivar-Harpers Ferry Public Library will host A Night of Readings, on Friday, October 19, at 7 p.m., a program honoring eleven Eastern-Panhandle authors who recently won recognition at the 2007 West Virginia Writers, Inc., Competition, the largest writing contest in the state of West Virginia. The site of the program will be the Bolivar-Harpers Ferry Public Library, located at 151 Polk Street in Bolivar (behind the Harpers Ferry Middle School).
The emcee for the evening will be Ethan Fischer, adjunct professor of English at Shepherd University, senior editor of the Antietam Review, and author of a new book of poetry entitled Beached in the Hourglass.
The program will spotlight writers from Jefferson, Berkeley, and Morgan counties who will read short excerpts from their award-winning compositions. These authors include Helen Pollack Becker, Kathy Sholl, and Sean O'Leary from Jefferson County; Bridget Snapp, Jay Tabor, Claire Stuart, and Victor Banis from Berkeley County; and Lynn Fox, Felicia Leigh Horne, Sarah Takacs, and Sally Brinkmann from Morgan County.
