Ravishing Raptors Weekend

The Ecology Coalition of Morgan County (eCo) is sponsoring a weekend for the celebration of wildlife—specifically Raptors—September 21-23. The location for this third annual celebration is Panorama at the Peak, on Rt. 9 west of Berkeley Springs.

A variety of activities will be offered. Hikes to the Potomac River, workshops on raptors, bees, birds, and the creation of safe environments for all. Special guests will be the Raptors themselves on Saturday, September 22. This particular weekend, being a migratory time, is an opportunity to view the larger birds moving to new quarters.

The Potomac Conservancy and Potomac Valley Audubon Society will offer tours of Eidolon, a marvelous mountain preserve newly opened to the public, and opportunities to participate in reforestation efforts by collecting native fall tree seeds. These seeds will be nurtured into small seedlings and then planted along streams and rivers. Special viewing of the night sky will be held at Morgan County Observatory on Saturday evening at 8 p.m.

More information can be obtained at the eCo booth at The Panorama at the Peak on Friday evening, September 21 from 4 p.m. until dark.
