Increaced number of home & car break-ins reported recently
Bath Police Chief James Minton is warning residents of Berkeley Springs and Morgan County about a series of car and home break-ins over the past several weeks.
Minton said residents should keep their doors and windows locked and their cars secure.
In several cases, the thieves have walked right into houses that had their doors opened. Minton said the incidents have happened both inside and outside of town limits.
"If you go on vacation, you might want to contact police to arrange extra patrols or ask a neighbor to look after your house. I am concerned about people's safety," Minton said.
Several walk-in thefts have been reported along Johnson Mill Road and Rockwell Street.
Residents should call State Police at 258-0000, Sheriff's deputies at 258-1067, or Town Police at 258-1198 if they notice suspicious people or if they have any information about the break-ins.
