Newly elected officers at Alderton-Dawson
The members of the Alderton-Dawson American Legion Auxiliary Unit 60 Berkeley Springs met June 7, with President Debbie Fox presiding. Erica Dods reported on the success of Poppy Day and took 150 poppies to Autumn Acres which were put on all residents' meal trays on May 30 in honor of Memorial Day.
Lauren McKee presented the unit with a framed picture of her school project in appreciation of helping to send her to Charleston for the state competition where her project "Respecting our Flag" won second place.
Members were elected to office for the 2007-2008 year: President Debbie Fox, First Vice President Darlene Shives, Second Vice President Kim Weber, Secretary/Treasurer Rachel Gray, Historian Barbara Spitzer, Chaplain Janet Culp, Sergeant of Arms and Co-Sergeant of Arms Carol Godwin, Kim Michael, Virginia Damaewizc and Traci Snidemiller. After the meeting, the officers were installed with the exception of Carol Godwin who was unable to attend.
Unit 60 members attended the installation of the new officers on June 19 of the Alderton-Dawson Post 60 and Squadron 60. Unit 60 member Carol Godwin was installed at this time. The auxiliary members served light refreshments at the social hour following the installation.
Debbie Fox reminded the members there will be no July meeting as the annual American Legion Convention will be held that week in South Charleston. The next meeting will be 6:30 p.m., August 9, at the Post home.
