HodgePodge Toy Company has grand opening July 7
Step into the HodgePodge Toy Co. and you'll feel just like a kid again checking out the fun stuff they have for all ages.
The specialty toy and costume store opened on June 14. They are located at 1771 Valley Road in Berkeley Springs in the ground floor of the Event Center across from the Dairy Queen.
HodgePodge Toy Co. will have their grand opening on Saturday, July 7 from noon to 2 p.m. with refreshments, children's games and face painting.
Unique items
The toy company carries unique items and one-of-a-kind toys not found at major stores, said manager Mary Jo Martin. They don't sell Monopoly but carry many variations of the game about animals, food, cities and universities.
"It's one of our biggest sellers," said Martin.
HodgePodge Toy Co. carries a wide variety of specialty toys and games for infants to adults and ages in-between. Selling fun toys for the whole family, including the dog, is their motto.
The store also has arts and crafts, puppets, puzzles, stuffed animals, t-shirts and popular year-round children's costumes. Their prices are very competitive, said Martin.
HodgePodge Toy Co. is a family business and is really two companies in one, she said. They are both a year-round toy store and a Halloween costume shop.
Toy store fare
Toy store items include baby bathtub toys, jewelry kits, magnetic dress-up dolls, family games, musical toys, books with puppets, learning laptops for ages three-eight, Farkel dice games, travel games, card games, board games, remote control animals and stocking stuffers for Christmas.
Environmental selections include ant farms, children's watering cans and frog and ladybug habitats. HodgePodge Toy Co. also carries unusual items such as a spaghetti twirler and a spinning ice cream cone holder.
The store also offers some DVD games, the Ungame icebreaker games and religious games and puzzles for children.

Find-it games are hot sellers and popular for travel, said Martin. You spin it, shake it and try to find the objects hidden inside. The store has many varieties of Benders, which are small fold-up persons or animals.
