Town gets Arbor Day awards

The Town of Bath has been honored with two awards from the Arbor Day Foundation.

The Tree City USA award was received for the second year in a row, and, for the first time, the town was awarded the Growth City award.

The Growth City Award recognizes environmental improvement and encourages a higher level of tree care through education, partnerships, planning and management, tree planting and maintenance.

The town received a new Tree City USA flag that was raised June 7 on the flagpole in the Foxglove Garden Club's herb garden next to the train depot at Washington and Williams streets.

A plaque recognizing the Growth City award will hang in town hall.

"A lot of work went into receiving these awards," said Barb Campbell, who chairs the town's Tree Committee.
