Crites chosen asPaw Paw mayor
Paw Paw voters elected Kenneth Crites as the town's next mayor in the municipal election on Tuesday, June 5.
Crites gathered 67 votes in defeating former mayor Eldridge Kerns, who got 53 votes.
A dozen candidates sought the five Paw Paw Council seats. Emerging as winners were Ed Ridgeway, with 95 votes; Eric Kidwell, 84; Rose Newlon, 57; Steve Moreland, 53; and Jeff Palmer, 52.
The other candidates' unofficial vote totals were: Karen Hayes, 42; Angela King, 40; Alton Wolfe, 37; Stacy Kline, 30; Julius Watson III, 26; Cecil King, Jr., 16; and Lisa Groah, 10.
Julie M. Kidwell, who has been acting mayor since last fall, was elected town recorder. She garnered 76 votes in an uncontested race.
The new Paw Paw officials take office with the beginning of the new fiscal year on July 1.
