Third Dunkin

The third annual Dunkin' Diabetes Basketball Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, June 2, at Warm Springs Middle School in Berkeley Springs.

Local resident, Jenna Hansroth, created the basketball tournament shortly after she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, and wanted to do something positive to fight the disease.

"We've raised over $3,000 for research the last two years and hope that everyone willl come out to support the tournament."

All proceeds from the tournament go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Juvenile Diabetes strikes people under age of 30, leaving them insulin-dependent for life, and at risk for heart disease, kidney problems, blindness, and nerve damage.

Participants may register in advance or by 8:30 the morning of the tournament. Anyone over age 11 is eligible to play. Teams may be formed with three or four players, at a small fee per player. A Foul Shot Contest will also be held.
