James is county
Daniel M. James started work as the new Morgan County Assistant Prosecutor on Monday, May 7.
Born and raised in Cumberland, Md., James attended Fort Hill High School and completed his undergraduate work at Frostburg State University. He received his law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan.
James grew up around the legal profession. His father, Daniel R. James, is a well-known defense attorney in Keyser. He also served as a prosecutor in Keyser for five years. James' brother Nic, graduated with his law degree from West Virginia University on Saturday.
For the past two years, James has worked as a law clerk for Circuit Court Judge David Sanders in Martinsburg.
"I got to see how the prosecutor's offices worked in Jefferson and Berkeley Counties," James said.
He said he saw that Morgan County Prosecutor Deborah McLaughlin took on a lot of cases and wasn't afraid to go to trial.
"I thought this was the best opportunity to get trial experience," James said. "I like spending time in the courtroom."
James is currently living
in Hagerstown, but is looking for a home in the area. His fianc
