County health department Poster Contest Winners

The Morgan County Health Department recently had a poster contest in honor of Public Health Awareness Week. The poster had to reflect threat preparedness/disaster preparedness. The children who participated were in grades Kindergarten through second grade and this contest was open for all Morgan County children. The children captured floods, fires, tornadoes and hurricanes in their posters.

Kindergarten- first place, CJ Feather, second, Daniel Hardin, third, Hunter Bobo, all of Greenwood School.

First grade- first place, Gracie Caldwell, Widmyer School; second, Anthony Lawhorne and third, Jeffery Haynes, Jr., both of Greenwood School.

Second grade- first place, Codi Lane McJilton, Home School; second- Haydee Riddell and third- Christopher Benson, both of Greenwood School.

All participants received recognition for their work. Morgan County Health Department said this was a success with the help of Jim Arbogast and Greenwood School.

Public Health Awareness week was a good week for the Morgan County Health Department. During that week they had the Lion's Club Vision and Hearing Screening van there for free examinations. Also, Morgan County Health Department Staff visited Widmyer Elementary along with the Morgan County Sheriff's Department, the Berkeley Springs Fire Department and the Morgan County Rescue Squad.

The First Care Helicopter from Winchester Medical Center was in attendance but due to the inclement weather that had to be cancelled. However, the helicopter has been resheduled for May 18.
