Alpine Station Civil War Roundtable meets on Thursday, May 24
The Alpine Station Civil War Roundtable will meet on Thursday, May 24 at 7 p.m. at the Hancock Museum at Town Hall on High Street.
Jerry Bayer, Commander of the Battle of Sharpsburg Camp and member and Past Maryland Division Commander of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans, will give a Civil War weapons presentation entitled "Arming the Armies." Roundtable guests may also bring their period weaponry to display.
Bayer is also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He and his wife Marianne are Civil War reenactors and recently appeared in "The Anvil," the story of John Brown's trial for his raid on Harper's Ferry. Both were also in the movie "Gods and Generals."
The Alpine Station Civil War Roundtable is group of Civil War enthusiasts from Morgan County, Hancock and surrounding areas that began meeting last year to share their interest in area Civil War history.
