Water moratoriumreconsidered in June
May 1, 2007
The moratorium on new town water service will stay in place at least through the end of June.
Town Clerk Margie Allgyer said the moratorium would not be lifted until after the water line replacement project is completed and the town can reassess the water situation.
The West Virginia Public Service Commission granted the moratorium on August 2, 2005 because of concern over water usage and low reserve levels. Part of the problem was undetected leaks in the old system that the water line replacement project should address.
The project is scheduled to be completed by June 15. At that time, Water Works will monitor water consumption and levels, and work with the Public Service Commission to decide if the moratorium should be lifted.
