Students expelled for drug offenses

The Morgan County School Board expelled two Berkeley Springs High School students on April 3 for possession and distribution of prescription drugs.

Two male 16-year-olds – a 10th grader and an 11th grader — were both expelled for 90 days with the provision that Principal George Ward may consider readmitting the boys at the beginning of the next school year.

In order to be eligible for a return to school, the students must receive regular counseling, have a doctor verify they are free of drugs and remain drug-free during their first year back in school.

School officials also voted to suspend a third boy — a 10th grader at Berkeley Springs High School —for possession of prescription drugs. The 15-year-old must also meet the same requirements to return to school at the end of his suspension.
