50th anniversary
Bill and Dottie Mosier of Hancock were honored by their sons and daughter-in-law, Lynn, Stuart and Stacy Mosier, with a 50th wedding anniversary celebration on December 2, 2006, in the ballroom of the Hancock American Legion. The event was attended by a host of family members and friends from the tri-state area.
The milestone celebration featured a slide presentation that journeyed from memories of the couple's grandparents through highlights of their 50 years together. Those years wre also reflected in display of original wedding attire, family pictures and a 1956 calendar plate.
Participating ministers were their pastor, Rev. Duane Jensen of the Hancock United Methodist Church and the Rev. Allan Weatherholt, Jr. of Saint Thomas Episcopal Church, Hancock, where the Mosiers were married on December 23, 1956 by the late Rev. Joseph Clair.
A keepsake portrait which served as the guest register was presented to the honorees by Bill and Margie Allgyer of Berkeley Springs. The anniversary cake was baked by Betty Austin of Little Orleans who shared serving honors with Janet McKinley of Hancock. Music was provided by the Tom Skidmore Trio if Frostburg.
She was the former Dorothy Cubbage, daughter of the late Rosalie Barnhart. She is retired from the Town of Hancock. He is known to many as "Moose," and is the son of the late John and Frannie Fisher Mosier. He served in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War and is retired from U.S. Silica in Berkeley Springs.
Both are lifelong residents of Hancock. They have three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
