Sewer system files to condemn

The Warm Springs Sewer Board authorized filing more condemnation cases in Morgan County Circuit Court on Wednesday afternoon, January 31.

At a special meeting, the Warm Springs Public Service District board okayed filing another 40 condemnation petitions to win easements needed for the extension of sewer lines east of Berkeley Springs.

The first batch of condemnation petitions were filed last year.

Rodney Hovermale, manager of the sewer system, said the latest series of easements had to be acquired before a loan closing scheduled for Thursday, February 15.

The loan funds will be used to improve and expand the sewage treatment plant in Berkeley Springs and extend collection lines.

The petitions were to be presented to Circuit Judge Gina Groh today.
