Council to pass election law
The election for Town of Bath mayor and council members will be held on Tuesday, June 12. In preparation, Town Recorder Garnet Marsh presented a draft election ordinance to the Bath Town Council at a special meeting on Monday morning, January 29.
Ordinance 2007-01 was read by council and approved. A second reading and vote by council is scheduled for Monday, February 12 at 9:30 a.m. After passage, the ordinance will take effect immediately.
Filing for office
Those candidates seeking town office must file between Monday, February 26 and Saturday, March 10 at Town Hall. The filing fee is $5.
Campaign finance reports must be completed as required by the West Virginia Code. Forms will be given to candidates at the time they file.
Early voting
Absentee voting will begin May 1 and must be postmarked no later than election day, June 12.
Early voting will begin on Wednesday, May 23 and run through Saturday, June 9. Early voting is done at Town Hall between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The office will be opened on Saturday, June 2 and Saturday, June 9, to accommodate early voters.
Certification of election results will be done on Thursday, June 21 at a special council meeting.
