Foxglove Garden Club meets
The January Meeting of the Foxglove Garden Club was held at St. Mark's Church on January 9.
Members took covered dishes and the hostesses, Janice Bright, Joan Holderer, and Sallie Bailey, took desserts and breads and provided the beverages and decorations.
Velda Huffman was accepted as a new member and Jo Johnson/Mullendore was welcomed as a guest and also given a special "welcome back" to living in Morgan County.
After the various committee reports were given, the rest of the meeting was focused on "Conservation Tips." Betty Lou Harmison gave a review of the club's past year involvement in the area of conservation. Tributes and gratitude were given to those who had participated in local conservation programs, or won awards, or were given grants for helping Morgan County be more and more responsible in this area. Those members mentioned were Gale Foulds, Jackie Michael, Cory Belton, Margaret Biggs and Betty Lou Harmison.
Gale Foulds gave the members handouts on conservation tips, and some members also shared their thoughts and ideas of how everyone can take better responsibility in this area. Planting trees is highly recommended. Other tips include using cloth and not paper as much as possible (such as cloth napkins and dishtowels; and wrapping gifts in cloth scraps and not wrapping paper).
The club has no meeting in February, so the next meeting will be March 6 with hostesses Marty Breakall and Nancy Garbark.
