The Learning Center at the James Rumsey Technical Institute will be holding orientations, Monday, February 5 and 26 and Tuesday, February 6. All students are required to attend an orientation in order to use the center's programs. Orientations are held in the Learning Center at James Rumsey Technical Institute.

Monday, February 5 and 26: GED Orientation and Pre-assessment–8 a.m. and 12 noon. Tuesday, February 6: GED Orientation at 6:30 p.m. Orientation and assessment should take approximately one and one-half hours. Following the orientation, a class schedule and instructional plan will be given to each student. A variety of instructional options are available including review classes, individual tutoring appointments, TV, computer and on-line instruction. All instructional options are free to students enrolled in the Learning Center. Anyone aged 16 and older may attend the center. Proof of withdrawal from school or education program is required of students aged 16-18 in order to enroll in the Learning Center programs.

Basic Skills/EDP orientations are set for Monday, February 5 and 26 at 9:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. and Tuesday, February 6 at 7:30 p.m. Classes are free and are designed for individuals who may need to review basic skills in math, reading, and grammar, or need Computer Introduction.

The Learning Center hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and each Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Call Jill Weekley at 304-754-9712 for additional information.
