Two accidents occur in county
Two motor vehicle accidents occurred in the county last Friday afternoon. There were no fatalities in either accident.
Two tractor trailers collided on U.S. Route 522 at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, January 5 around 300 feet north of Fish Hatchery Road past Cacapon State Park.
According to state police information, the tractor-trailers were traveling in opposite directions. As one tractor-trailer braked for a car that was slowing in front of it, its back end kicked out into the roadway and struck the other tractor-trailer. There were no injuries.
A second accident happened on Friday at 3:15 p.m. along Route 9 West or Cacapon Road around 500 feet west of Cold Run Valley Road. A 1993 Acura Legend ran off the roadway to the right while it was traveling west. The car came back to the center of the road and then went off the roadway to the left. It struck some trees and came to rest over the embankment, according to information from the Sheriff's Department.
Both the driver and their sole passenger were visibly injured in the wreck. The injured were taken to War Memorial Hospital for treatment.
