Sue Green is honoredas recycling volunteer
Sue (Unger) Green was honored for outstanding achievement as a true recycling champion by the Morgan County Solid Waste Authority and the Recycling Coalition of West Virginia.
Bennett Lentczner, Solid Waste Authority chairperson, presented Green with the recycling award at the Friday, January 11 Morgan County Commission meeting. Green has served as a Morgan County recycling volunteer since the early 1990's when the county recycling program was first organized, he said.
Her award preceded the announcement of a permanent recycling center being established in Morgan County through a collaboration of the Morgan County Solid Waste Authority and the Ecology Coalition of Morgan County.
Lentczner acknowledged that Green was among the small corps of dedicated volunteers—men, women and children—that spend several hours every month helping to collect recyclable goods at sites around the county.
The efforts of Green and other volunteers, Green's belief that everybody should recycle and the continual urgings of citizens inspired the push for a permanent recycling center in Morgan County, he said.
