Stormwater issues studied by Planning Commission

by Jazz Clark
A forum on stormwater management will be sponsored by the Morgan County Planning Commission on Tuesday evening, March 19.

The public meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the county commission room of the courthouse. Recommenda-tions about stormwater management in Morgan County will be discussed.

The commissioners received a grant from the State Department of Environ-mental Protection to do a study and reports of regulations for stormwater management, and see what voluntary recommendations to take from Chesapeake Bay cleanup efforts, according to Morgan County Planner Alma Gorse.

At the forum, visual presentations will be given by Environmental Protection representatives about their suggestions for how to proceed in regards to stormwater and how to amend the county’s current regulations.

Consultant Richard Parks, who produced the original report, will make a presentation on best management practices.

Matt Pennington of Region 9 Planning & Development will focus on environmental protection recommendations in a separate presentation.

Questions and comment from the public will be taken at the end of the session.
