Morgan County Schools Math Field Day
Morgan County Schools held its annual Math Field Day competition on Tuesday, January 22, at Warm Springs Middle School. Students in grades four-eight from Greenwood Elementary, Pleasant View Elementary, Paw Paw Elementary, Warm Springs Intermediate, and Warm Springs Middle School participate in this event each year. Students in grades nine-12 participate in Math Field Day competitions at Berkeley Springs High School and Paw Paw High School. Students are selected to participate based on their interest and academic achievement in mathematics.
Those who placed will compete in the Regional Math Field Day event at Potomac State College on March 25.
Winners are:
Grade four
First place, Carson Stotler, WSIS; second, Lindsay Marks WSIS; third, Kelly Doherty, WSIS; alt were, Candice Payne, PLV, Ceanna Cooney, WSIS, Evie Caperton, WSIS and Erin McLaughlin WSIS.
Grade five
First place, Josiah Kowalski PLV; second, Aleah Hageny, WSIS; third, Cole Morris, PLV; alt were, Kierstyn Wise, WSIS, Liza Diffenderfer WSIS, Meghan Fox WSIS and Kelsey Turben PLV.
Grade six
First place, Ethan Hatcher; second, Ben Michael; third, Kayley Brinegar; alt were, Trinity Vandorsdale and Catherine Myers all of WSMS.
Grade seven
First place, Mathew Kidwell PP; second, Christian Braithwaite PP; third, Kat McLaughlin WSMS; alt were, Kathryn Banks WSMS and Tristan Kesner PP.
Grade eight
First place, Payton Brown WSMS; second, Zack Harrold PP; third, Hannah Abdelaal WSMS; alt were, Brandon Keenan WSMS and Zachary Salman WSMS.
Grade nine
First place, Kendall White; second, Rhett Beddow; third, Lin Chen; alt were, Andrea Ewers and Trey Ratcliff all of BSHS.
Grades 10-12
