Shepherd women’s basketball

Sophomore center Gabby Flinchum scored eight of her team-high 20 points in overtime to lift Shepherd University to a 69-66 win over Fairmont State in WVIAC women’s basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday, January 19.

Flinchum hit on 10 of 19 shots from the floor. She added 11 rebounds to post her third double-double of the season. She blocked a career-high seven shots while adding two assists and two steals.

Senior guard Emily Daniel added 10 points and 11 rebounds. She added four steals and a pair of assists.

Sophomore guard Alex Weakland had nine points, five boards, and a game-high four assists. Senior guard Alex Tamez of Berkeley Springs contributed eight points, six rebounds and three assists, while junior forward Jimyse Brown had eight points and four boards.

Kaitlin Snyder had a game-high 28 points and nine rebounds to lead the Falcons. Hailey Garrett added 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Rams shot 41.1 percent (23-56) from the floor for the game, 30 percent (3-10) from three-point range, and 64.5 percent (20-31) from the line.

Jasmine Gibson scored a game-high 29 points to lead Ohio Valley to an 81-76 win over Shepherd University in WVIAC women’s basketball action at Ohio Valley on Monday night, January 21.

Shelby Way, Amy Brooks, and Tara Benedict each added 10 points, while Kayla Parsley grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for the Fighting Scots.

Senior guard Emily Daniel led the Rams with 18 points and nine rebounds.

Senior guard Priscilla Moseh added 15 points and six boards, while senior guard Alex Tamez contributed 10 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Sophomore guard Rachel Johnson was also in double figures with 11 points.

Shepherd falls to 7-9, 6-6 in WVIAC action.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Bluefield State for a 2 p.m. contest.
