In a critical sectional match up last Wednesday night, the Petersburg Vikings ended Berkeley Springs' dominance against sectional foes with a 75-61 victory.

The Petersburg win ended the Tribe's four game winning streak and dealt a blow to the Indians chances of securing a potential #1 seed and home court advantage throughout the sectional championships.

Berkeley Springs took an 18-16 first quarter lead, but at halftime found themselves trailing the Vikings 38-35.

After three quarters of play, the Indians still were within striking distance trailing 54-51. However, it was in the fourth period that Petersburg took complete control of the game and put away the Indians by outscoring them 21-10 in the final stanza.

Coach Jeremy Horvat stated after the game that he was not too happy with his team’s performance. "We had some discipline issues that happened and it definitely affected us."

Berkeley Springs was led by junior Tyler Zinzow who had 13 points and three rebounds, Zach Wise had 12 points and two rebounds, Michael Kearney 11 points, five rebounds, Kyle Appel had 10 points and seven rebounds, and Kaleb Athey who finished with 10 points as well.

The Indians fall to 4-3 on the season, and traveled to Bishop Walsh, Md. Monday and play this Thursday, January 17, hosting Mountain View Christian Academy, Va.
