Warm Springs wrestlers take third at Duels Tourney

The Wolves Wrestling Team traveled to Harper’s Ferry on December 8, to compete in the six team Tiger Duels.

Warm Springs went 3-2 on the day. To start the day, the Wolves took on Locust Grove, Va., defeating the Mustangs by a score of 45-32.

After a second round bye, Warm Springs took to the mat again and dismantled a depleted Harper’s Ferry squad by a count of 51-16.

The first real test of the day came during the match against Culpepper. Although the Wolves wrestled well, they could not make up for the four forfeits in their line up and lost a close one to the Cougars 37-35.

After defeating Johnson Williams, Va. 57-15, Warm Springs lost another close one, this time to Floyd T. Binns, Va. 42-39. Once more, the forfeits at the bottom of the line up cost the Wolves.

Davy Mundey (84), Brady Faith (116) and Michael Hovermale (123) all went 5-0 on the day, while Brandon Shaw (78), David Grapes (90) and Zach Davis (95) suffered just one setback. Alex Davis (102), Josh Hartman (102), CJ Ryan (110), Patrick Raymond (128) and Tanner Clark each provided valuable team points in the duels, while Damian Warnik (78), Damian Barnes (90), Tobin Whittington (95), and Desmond Bamber (HWT) all gained valuable experience for the future.

Cole Morris, Davy Mundey and Zac Davis competed with the Hedgesville Iron Eagles travel team in Chantilly, Va. on December 9 to compete in the Mat Dog Christmas Duels Tournament.

Mundey finished the day 6-0, while Davis and Morris each went 3-3. The tourney featured the best duels teams in the states of Virginia and Maryland.
