Intermediate school kids have soup recipe contest

Warm Springs Intermediate School students in fourth grade teacher Christie Butts’ class recently created soup recipes as part of their school garden project with volunteer and Lot 12 owner Betsy Heath.

They used ingredients like garlic and Swiss chard that were from the school garden in their recipes, said counselor/flex teacher Jenna Epstein, who is also working with the garden project. Lot 12 Chef Damien Heath chose student Caybrie Clatterbuck’s recipe as the winning entry and made her soup recipe for the class to enjoy on Thursday, November 29.

Clatterbuck received a children’s book about gardening and a congratulatory card from the Heaths. Her soup was also featured on the December 1-2 weekend Lot 12 menu. The restaurant is an intermediate school business partner.
