Volleyball season comes to end

by Jamie Harris
All season long the Lady Indians Varsity Volleyball program has struggled with passing and communication consistency during the games.

In the Class AA Sectional semi-finals the Lady Indians found themselves playing a common foe, the Frankfort Lady Falcons who had beaten Berkeley Springs twice in the regular season.

In the semi-final match, it was no different as the Lady Falcons swept the Lady Indians in three sets (3-0) by the scores of 25-10, 25-11 and 25-11.

Berkeley Springs was led by Lauren Schetrompf - eight kills, four digs, two points; Casey Solomon - five points, eight digs and Tiff Michael - six digs and two points.

Coach Heather Lorigan summed up the season ending loss, “Frankfort all-around outplayed us, we had issues passing to target, digging some of their strong hitters and communicating. While we certainly had our ups and downs this season, we will definitely miss all our seniors and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors. The season wasn’t as successful as we had hoped it might be, but we are already looking towards next year.”

The loss brings the high school volleyball careers of Courtney Smith, Idalis Hovermale, Sarah Keefer, Josie Spade, Tiffany Michael, Lauren Schetrompf, Natalie Reddick and Casey Solomon to an end with a 5-19 record.
