Freshmen football wins

The Berkeley Springs High School Freshman Football Team picked up its first win of the 2012 season with an 8-7 victory over Frankfort.

The win was a little redemption for the Indians since the Falcons defeated them on August 29 by a 13-8 score. In that game the Tribe was inside the Falcon four yard line with less than a minute left in the game before a turnover doomed their chances at a win.

In the victory, the Indians touchdown came on a 12 yard pass from Logan Rothstein to Trevor Lynch. The Indians then went for the two point conversion and this time Rothstein found Trevor Lynch open and the conversion was successful.

Running back Matt Schaefer led the Indian rushing attack with 125 yards on the ground.

Coach Mark Cowles said it took a complete team defensive effort to pick up this win. The kids played hard and our overall effort was great.

Up next for the freshman team is a home game with Clear Spring, Md. today September 26 at 6 p.m.
