Golf team wins PVC Championship

So far through the 2012 golf season, Berkeley Springs young golf team kept chipping away in attempts to find the top of the leaderboard after meets.

On September 10, their efforts finally paid off in a big way at the Valley View Golf Course in Moorefield.

Coach Dale McCumbee’s squad walked away with the 2012 PVC Golf Championship. The Indians shot a 365 to outdistance second place Keyser (361) by four shots. Frankfort was third with a 391 and Petersburg finished fourth with a 393.

Junior Colin McPeak led Berkeley Springs with an 86. Freshmen Rhett Beddow (88) and Chase Bowers (91) joined McPeak on the PVC All-Tournament Team.

Indian senior Chris DeVeling shot a (100), Courtney Close 103 and Corey Osborn (110) rounding out the scoring for the Tribe.

Coach McCumbee was named PVC Coach of the Year.
