Student expelled for drugs

Another Berkeley Springs High School student has been expelled for drug possession on school property. The 16-year-old male 10th grader was expelled for 45 days after a disciplinary hearing at the May 1 meeting of the Morgan County School Board.

To be readmitted to school, the student will have to prove he stays drug-free for a year and has to attend regular counseling sessions.

Recent sentences by Magistrate Kermit Ambrose:

Philip Charles McAnulty, Jr., 24, of Laurel Hill Lane, Berkeley Springs, was given a suspended sentence of a year in jail and ordered to pay $186 court costs for domestic battery. He was placed on probation and must attend counseling.

Fugitive from Maryland arrested in traffic stop

A Berkeley Springs woman was arrested for being a fugitive from justice last Friday afternoon, April 27, after a traffic stop on Harrison Avenue.

Brenda Lee Belanger, 41, of Betty Lane, was arrested after Corporal Craig Pearrell tried to stop her when he noticed that her brown Lincoln Town Car had no inspection sticker, according to Bath Police Chief James Minton.
