Grace Church celebrates 50th anniversary

Grace United Methodist Church on the corner of Householder and River Roads will celebrate 50 years of services on June 24.

The church held its first service as Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church the last Sunday in June of 1957.

Berkeley Chapter No. 77 of the Eastern Star Grand Visitation

Berkeley Chapter No. 77, Order of the Eastern Star, held its Grand Visitation on Saturday afternoon, May 12, at Warm Springs Middle School. There were 166 members and guests present to celebrate the homecoming of Worthy Grand Patron, Brother Lewis O. Braithwaite and to welcome Worthy Grand Matron, Sister Bobbie Bonnell.

Special guests included: General Grand Chapter Committee members Midge Crouch and Lester Dempsey; 11 Past Grand Matrons, six Past Grand Patrons, two Past Grand Matrons from other jurisdictions-Jane Grollig, District of Columbia and Joan Morris, Maryland; and one Worthy Grand Patron from other jurisdictions-Phil Beeman, Maryland. There were also eight Grand Representatives, two General Grand Chapter Special Committee Appointments, 11 Instructors and Deputy Instructors, 11 Worthy Matrons, seven Worthy Patrons, 34 Past Matrons, three Past Patrons, 30 members and visitors and 15 chapter officers.

County adopts a $75 annual ambulance fee

The Morgan County Commission enacted a Special Emergency Ambulance Service Fee ordinance at their Friday, June 15 meeting. The ordinance will impose a $75 annual ambulance fee for each household in Morgan County and will include both municipalities. The ambulance fee will become effective July 1.

The ambulance service fee will help fund mostly the Morgan County Rescue Service operations, but will also aid Paw Paw Fire and Rescue. The annual ambulance fee will be a separate bill that will be added to this year's property tax bills, which will go out in early July.

CNB Bank, Inc. April employee

Carolyn Clinger-man was selected as the April 2007 Employee of the Month for CNB Bank Inc. She has been employed at CNB since June 2004, and is currently the AVP/ branch manager/ mortgage loan officer at the Hancock office.

She was nominated by a fellow employee who stated, "Carolyn will go to a customer's home, if for health reasons; they cannot physically come to the bank. She is very community driven through Rotary, Chamber and the Hancock barge bash. Carolyn will do whatever it takes to help a customer or fellow employee. She treats customers like she wants to be treated, by taking her time and answering all questions. She is very thorough in her job."

Bath incumbents reelected; two tied

Mayor Susan Webster, Town Recorder Garnet Marsh and four Bath Town Council members won new two-year terms in the municipal election on Tuesday, June 12.

Webster beat write-in mayoral candidate Barbara Campbell by 108 to 55 votes, or 66% to 34%.

Seth Vancour joins RE/MAX Enterprises

RE/MAX Enterprises, LLC announces that Seth Vancour has joined their Hedgesville office as a sales associate.

He has spent the last five years in new home sales having worked for Dan Ryan Builders and Richmond American Homes. "His new home sales experience should serve him well in this market considering the number of these homes that will return to the market as re-sales in the coming years," remarked his broker, Charlotte Sherman.

Youngblood trial set for October

The retrial of Denver A. Youngblood, Jr. on sexual assault charges has been scheduled to begin on Tuesday, October 23, in Morgan County Circuit Court.

Judge Gina Groh scheduled the new trial on Monday during a hearing at which Youngblood participated via teleconference from prison, where he is serving a sentence from an unrelated conviction.

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, Mid-Atlantic was honored for its outstanding performance during the last year to the 2007 Cartus Broker Network International Conference held April 15-18 at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona. More than 900 representatives attended the four-day event, which included interactive workshops, round-table and panel discussions, and executive presentations.
