Geothermal heating, cooling considered for courthouse



The Morgan County Commission heard ideas about heating and cooling the future county courthouse with geothermal energy at their Friday, August 24 meeting.

Kesecker named to Hall of Fame

J. Philip Kesecker is one of the local volunteers being honored by the Berkeley Springs-Moragn County Chamber of Commerce. He will join the 49 members of the Apple Butter Festival Hall of Fame. Kesecker will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at a community luncheon on Wednesday, September 12, noon at The Country Inn.

The afternoon will feature fun entertainment. The luncheon's corporate sponsor is the U.S. Silica Company. Tickets for the luncheon are available at the Chamber office.

Lost River Project wins more funding

Funds to advance construction of a dam in the Lost River watershed in Hardy County have been added to federal appropriations bills by U. S. Senator Robert Byrd.

Byrd, chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, included $5 million for the Lost River Watershed Project. The funds will help complete the design of the project and begin construction of Phase I of Lost River Watershed Site 16, an earth fill dam that will provide flood protection, recreation and water supply to eastern Hardy County.

Bath Council proposes animal control and bicycle ordinances



Town of Bath Council had the first reading of two new ordinances that would add stiff fines for violators and give police the power to impound dogs and confiscate bicycles.

New billboards over 32 square feet in size will be banned along the entire length of the Washington Heritage Trail in Morgan County.

Teen runaway is in state custody

A Morgan County teenager who was reported missing by her mother August 13 was located last week.

She is in the custody of the State of West Virginia, said Inspector Link of the Morgan County Sheriff's Department.
