Bailey

Jamie Younker and David Bailey announce the birth of their son, Alston Tayler Bailey on January 6, 2007, weighing 8 lbs. 11.7 ozs. at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va. They have one other child, Alexis Bailey two and one half years old. Maternal grandparents are Karina Carper of Mocksville, N.C., and James Yonker of Hancock. Paternal grandparents are Roland and Donna Bailey, both of Berkeley Springs.

La Luna Gallery & Wine Bar opens

Steve and Jennifer Donnelly have worked hard for a year to make their dream a reality. Living and working in the Washington area, but also owning a home off Rockford Road in Great Cacapon, the couple has spent many long weekends trying to get La Luna Gallery and Wine Bar ready for business.

"I wanted to open some kind of art gallery and Jennifer suggested making it a gallery and wine bar. We wanted a place where people could sit, sip wine and talk," Donnelly said.

Rescue Squad Thrift Store helps squad and community



The Rescue Squad Thrift Store continues to provide financial assistance to the Morgan County Rescue Service as it has done for more than 30 years. The thrift store also helps the community by offering clothing and household goods at inexpensive prices.

Historical and Genealogical Society meets and plans

The Morgan County Historical and Genealogical Society met Monday, May 14 at the First United Methodist Church.

President Fred Widmyer reported on his meeting with Larry Lower of the Fair Committee, Betty Harmison of the Landmark Committee, along with Bob Knight and Tammy Marggraf of the History Museum of Berkeley Springs, concerning how the different historical bodies of Morgan County could better work together to come to a more satisfactory result in obtaining history of the county, as well as, making it available to those wanting to do research on the different historical subjects of Morgan County.

Norris-Conaway Wedding

Jordan Lee Norris and Danielle Marie Conaway were united in marriage March 21, 2007 at a ceremony in the Cathedral Gardens at Berkeley Springs Rehabilitation and Nursing which was attended by the residents and the bride's co-workers.

The couple is from Berkeley Springs and the bride is a certified nursing assistant who is employed on the 2-10 p.m. shift.

Hall–Suits

Micah and Martha Suits of Inwood announce the engagement of their daughter, Valerie Suits, to TSGT B. Glenn Hall II, son of Bette and Kenny Kidwell of Great Cacapon, and Brett and Patricia Hall of Knoxville, Tenn.

Blood drive update

Caperton Furnitureworks, formerly Tom Seely Furniture held an American Red Cross blood drive on May 8. Thirty-two employees responded and 23 units of blood were given.

Human Resources Manager Linda Ramsdell coordinated the blood drive and set up the donor schedule.

2007 Health Olympics are winding down

The 2007 Health Olympics are entering their final stages. Participants are reminded that they must weigh out at the same location where they registered. Weigh outs may take place from Monday, May 21, through Friday, June 8.

"Of course, we don't intend for this to be an end of any sort," states organizer Dr. Matt Hahn. "We expect that our participants will continue their healthy habits throughout the year. The Health Olympics is just a way to motivate people to get their healthy lives in gear. With the weather so nice, and so many good fitness alternatives in the area now, everyone should be able to do well."
