The long-awaited CD recording of Dr. Matt Hahn & friends performing the songs of local country music legend Joltin' Jim McCoy is finally here.

A CD release party for Hahn's recording entitled "The Real McCoy" will be held this Saturday evening, December 15, at the Troubadour Lounge beginning at 8 p.m. Hahn will perform with Mike Colyer and the Tonehounds with special guest Tori Anderson.

Benefits are being planned to help Steve Moreland, Paw Paw Fire Chief and Morgan County Rescue Service emergency medical technician, who was seriously injured in a vehicle accident on November 19.

A benefit fund for him has also been established at CNB to help Moreland and his family with their rising medical expenses as the holiday season approaches.

With its tall cliffs, rippling waterfalls and scenic pond, Johnsons Mill is a special place of magical beauty and rich history. The old mill was located on Johnsons Mill Road atop a deep gorge along Sleepy Creek near Highland Ridge.

No one living remembers the old Johnsons Mill being in operation, which was in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The old water-powered mill ground grain into flour and made feed for livestock.

The second annual Toys for Tots Holiday Open House will be held at the old Stotler's Crossroads General Store this Sunday, December 2 from 12 to 4 p.m.

Visitors are asked to take a new, unwrapped toy to put under the Christmas tree to benefit Toys for Tots. Refreshments will be served.

The Morgan County Commission is considering some new approaches to the problem of abandoned and stray cats and dogs and feral cats in the county.

At their Thursday, November 15 meeting, County Commissioner Brenda Hutchinson said that she felt the best plan would be combining Animal Control and Humane Society of Morgan County functions.

A Leesburg, Virginia woman was killed in an early morning accident last week that shut down both lanes of U.S. Route 522 South for over four hours. The accident occurred on Tuesday, November 13 at 7:23 a.m. approximately 0.2 mile north of Allemong Lane near Cacapon State Park.
